The Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative (ZMBLI) has been featured on TV5 Monde’s Wari programme, examining how domestic private sector businesses can come together to prevent malaria, and support national malaria control programmes.
ZMBLI is a partnership between Ecobank, the UN-hosted RBM Partnership to End Malaria and the advocacy action tank Speak Up Africa.
In the first episode, Elisa Desbordes, Chief Operating Officer of the Ecobank Foundation, was interviewed about the impact of the ZMBLI in the battle against malaria in the five countries where the initiative is being deployed (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Senegal and Uganda). She also spoke about how the initiative is mobilising financial and medical supplies support from the private sector: ZMBLI has been given €1.5 million in cash and in-kind by the private sector and US$600,000 by the Ecobank Foundation, as of September 2023.
In the second episode, Dr. Daniel Kasser Tee, Head of Marketing at Ecobank Ghana, spoke about how endemic malaria is in certain areas of Ghana and how ZMBLI is helping to address it.
The programmes also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about malaria and working together to improve community health care, hygiene and malaria-fighting interventions.
