Ecobank launches “Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative” in Benin and Senegal

December 4, 2020

Ecobank, in partnership with the strategic communication and advocacy organization Speak Up Africa, launched the “Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative” in Benin and Senegal.

In total, over 100 participants were invited to the launch, which took place respectively on 17 and 21 November 2020 in the presence of Ministers of health, the NMCP coordinators and high-level guests.

The “Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative” aims to:
– Mobilize companies and business leaders in favor of malaria control and elimination.
– Maximize Ecobank’s networks and partners to strengthen or create collaborative platforms.
– Promote the mobilization of national resources for sustainable financing of the fight and elimination of malaria.

The Ministers during this ceremony insisted on the need to put in place mechanisms to encourage public-private partnerships. In this regard, the Ministers launched the Zero Malaria Matching Fund. This fund, on the basis of a matched funding agreement, will be set up to inspire innovation and finance ambitious interventions to fight malaria. Ecobank is the first company to contribute to this fund with an initial contribution of $ 120,000 in each country.
