Ecobank & the Red Cross combat hunger in Nigeria

February 19, 2024

The Ecobank Foundation, Ecobank Nigeria and the Nigerian Red Cross Society have come together in a powerful partnership to confront one of the most pressing issues facing the nation - and the broader African continent.

Food insecurity is endured by countless men, women, and children every day. According to UNICEF, 25 million Nigerians were at high risk of food insecurity in 2023, due to continued conflicts, climate change, inflation and rising food prices. Children are the most vulnerable to food insecurity and approximately a third of food-insecure Nigerians are children under five.

Under the banner of the Regional Emergency Appeal Hunger Crisis of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, this collaborative effort between the Ecobank Foundation, Ecobank Nigeria and the Nigerian Red Cross Society seeks to mobilize local funds within Nigeria to directly aid the most vulnerable families. Through donations, we aim to provide crucial healthcare interventions, nutritional support, and other vital welfare initiatives to those in urgent need.

This initiative underscores the Ecobank Foundation’s unwavering commitment to serving Africa and to transforming the lives of our continent’s people.
