The private sector stakeholders elected Ecobank Foundation CEO Julie Essiam to represent the sector on the Board of the Global Fund.
In order to achieve the vision of a world free of the burden of HIV, TB and malaria, the Board of the Global Fund is designed to incorporate leading stakeholders in an effective way.
The Board includes 20 voting members, with equal representation by implementers and donors. NGOs, communities, the private sector, and private foundations are also represented as voting members.
Julie will represent the private sector for the next two years. She’s taking over from Paul Shaper, Executive Director, Global Public Policy at Merck & Co.
