Let’s get more women into the sports industry

July 6, 2022

We hosted a webinar to encourage more women to participate in sport, both personally and professionally, and take advantage of all the opportunities the sector offers.

Following the kick-off of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in early July, we sought to emphasise the importance of sport for women, both personally and professionally, and all the opportunities and benefits that the sport industry can deliver for the continent.

In the third episode of our ’Break the Bias’ webinar series – dedicated to empowering women – we partnered with the African Sports and Creative Institute (ASCI) to talk about women in sport.
The sports industry represents a huge opportunity for the development of the African continent, especially for women and girls. But why? What role can they have in sport today? Why should they get involved in sports?

The speakers were:

• Mohsen Abdel Fattah, Managing Director, ASCI
• Florence Raes, Deputy Regional Director, UN Women West and Central Africa Regional Office
Batouly Camara, International Basketball Player, Guinea
• Cynthia Mumbo, CEO, Sports Connect Africa
