Ecobank Foundation and Ecobank joined the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) and its theme #EmbraceEquity on 8 March 2023.
Our flagship IWD activity was a pan-African webinar focused on technology and women empowerment. The webinar, which was titled ‘How to leverage transformative and digital technology to create equal opportunities’ was organised in partnership with UN Women. It featured experts and industry leaders giving their insight on the importance of women fully embracing technology. The speakers highlighted how technology and digital innovation can help women expand their opportunities, create wealth, and open up access to new careers.
In addition to the webinar, Ecobank organised several other activities in support of gender equality. These included a call for all Ecobankers to wear purple on IWD; launching a ‘Save as You Spend’ campaign offering an enhanced interest rate to encourage women to save; and ‘Strike the Pose’ selfies taken by Ecobankers. Ecobank also organised a range of other activities through our local affiliates.
